ABSTRACT

Introduction: To our knowledge, there are no published studies on the implementation and results of Pulmonary telerehabilitation (PTR) in Argentina. Our objective was to describe PTR strategies used during the COVID-19 pandemic, the results of the different PTR modalities and the patient satisfaction. Method(s): A prospective study was carried out between April and August 2020. Patients who switched to different PTR modalities participated: synchronous (SPTR) or asynchronous (APTR). The level of satisfaction, quality of life with the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and anxiety and depression with the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) at baseline, 6 and 12 weeks were evaluated. Result(s): 20 centers participated. 299 patients were included (55.9% female), with a median (P25-75) age of 68 (62- 72) years, 184/249 (73.9%) diagnosed with COPD, 37 (14.9%) interstitial lung diseases, 12 (4.8%) asthma and 16 (6.4%) other CRD. 110 (36.8%) patients underwent SPTR and 189 (63.2%) with APTR. No differences were observed in the SGRQ and HADS except in the activities subscale of the SGRQ that increased significantly (p<0.05) in both groups, the impact subscale and the total that increased significantly in the SPTR group at 12 weeks (p<0.01). Both groups reported being satisfied with the PTR, 5.9 (5.4-6.3) in SPTR and 5 (4.6-5.4) in APTR, being significantly higher in SPTR (p=0.004) Conclusion(s): We observed significant satisfaction with PRT during the pandemic. No improvements were seen in quality of life, anxiety, or depression.

ABSTRACT

Analysing fiscal policy from the perspective of feminist economics means examining gender equality policies, both in terms of tax revenue and other sources of fund (indebtedness), as well as redistribution and public spending. Finding out the number of resources assigned to these policies, their macroeconomic impact, and their temporality (longevity) is extremely essential. In this paper, we will analyse public expenditure in the budgets of Latin American countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. The budget proposals tabled for the region focus on employment generation through the creation of care centres, with policies that focus on both redistribution of income and redistribution of care work. © 2022 Oxfam KEDV.

ABSTRACT

Last December, SARS-CoV-2 emerged in Wuhan, China, like a new coronavirus, producing the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), that as of April 15, 2020, it has infected more than 2,000,000 people worldwide and caused 128,833 deaths. Due to the way SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted, endoscopy rooms and endoscopic procedures are an easy source of dissemination, as they fulfill the different characteristics of a contaminated environment for patients and healthcare personnel involved in endoscopic procedures. It is of great importance to establish measures within endoscopy units to prevent and reduce the risk of spreading this infection, creating a safe environment that protects patients and health personnel. A Pubmed search was performed with the following terms: (“COVID-19” OR “coronavirus” OR “SARS-Cov-2”) and (“gastrointestinal” OR “transmission” OR “intestinal” OR “digestive” OR “endoscopy “OR” esophagogastroduodenoscopy “OR” colonoscopy “). The gastroenterology team of our institution, considers that all patients brought to endoscopic procedures should be classified as high risk and presents the recommendations that all healthcare staff in endoscopy units, should take into account to reduce the risk of infection. © 2020 Asociaciones Colombianas de Gastroenterología, Endoscopia digestiva,.
